Hiru Uththama Dhathu Wandana Parade Reaches Gelioya This Morning

All set to escort the sacred relics of the Lord Buddha brought from Kapila Wasthupura to Janaranjanarama Vihara in Gelioya under Hiru Uththama Dhaathu Wandana programme organized by Asia Broadcasting Corporation’s Hiru TV and Hiru FM this year for the fourth consecutive time.

The sacred relics of Lord Buddha will thereafter be escorted to Wewaladeniya Piriwena thereafter.

Devotees were given the opportunity to pay homage to the relics of the Buddha at Nuwara Eliya Buddhist Center yesterday.

During the ushering from Muthiyangana Raja Maha Vihara in Badulla to Nuwara Eliya, the vehicle parade passed Bandarawela, Welimada, Keppetipola, Pussellawa and Gampola towns providing thousands of Buddhist devotees to witness and worship the sacred relics brought from Kapilawasthupura.

The exact relics of Lord Buddha will be escorted to Abeysekararamaya in Yakkala by the noon and to the Buddhist Center in Moratuwa by the afternoon.

The relics will finally be placed at Waskaduwa Sri Subhuthi Viharaya, where it was placed at the commencement of Hiru Uththama Dhaathu Wandana.

HIRU Uththama Dhathu Wandana- thousands gather to pay homage to sacred relics

A large crowd was seen at the HIRU Uththama Dhathu Wandana programme organized for the 4th year by HIRU TV and HIRU FM in view of the Vesak Poya Day, as it embarked on the second successful day yesterday.

The conveyance ceremony of the Kapilawasthupura sacred relics of the Lord Buddha from Sri Subhothi Vihara in Waskaduwa to the sacred grounds of Muthiyangana took place at an auspicious time on Saturday.

Escorting of the relics to Nuwara Eliya commenced this morning.

Commencing at 6.00am the sacred relics were carried in a vehicle parade through Bandarawela, Welimada, Keppetipola and will reach Nuwara Eliya between 11.00am to 1.30 pm.

The relics will be displayed at the Nuwara Eliya Buddhist Center and from 3.00pm to 5.00pm they will be carried to Sri Manthindaramaya in Pussellawa.

At 6.00pm the sacred relics will be escorted to Shaliyala Viharaya in Gampola.

The sacred Kapilawasthu relics placed at Waskaduwa Sri Subhuthi Viharaya were escorted to the Muthiyangana Sacred Grounds where hundreds of thousands of devotees were given the opportunity to pay homage.

A Dhamma sermon was conducted by the Trustee of Badulla Muthiyangana Raja Maha Vihara Venerable Murundeniye Dhammarathana Thera.

The Chief incumbent of Waskaduwa Sri Subhoothi Vihara noted that the moment is similar to the historic moment of the Buddha’s visit to Muthiyangana sacred site.

Following the Dhamma sermons of the Maha Sangha, devotees arriving from all parts of the island were able to pay homage to the sacred relics of Lord Buddha.

Another notable moment observed during the exposition was that the Chairman of Asia Broadcasting Corporation Mr. Rayynor Silva offering milk rice to the devotees who were arriving to pay homage to the sacred relics.

Yesterday an Aloka Puja of Hiru Shakyasinha Mangalyaya was held where 100,000 oil lamps were lit in the premises of the Muthiyangana Chaithya, under the patronage of the Chairman of Asia Broadcasting Corporation Mr. Rayynor Silva.

Following the religious observances, the Maha Sangha expressed their gratitude and blessings towards the Chairman of Asia Broadcasting Corporation and the staff.

Reports indicated that hundreds of thousands of devotees, lined up in a queue spanning many kilometres from the sacred grounds of Muthiyanganaya, were patiently waiting to pay their homage to the sacred Kapilawasthupura relics.
